ICE, Innovation Culture Europe...
What is ICE ?
Innovation culture Europe, ICE, is an association created in the autumn 2007.
The aim with ICE’s activities is to improve knowledge between European countries and to bring forth values such as awareness, engagement and openness through art and cultural projects. This is why ICE initiates and/ or produces transcultural European art projects but also collaborates with other actors in the cultural sector that share the same goals and values. You can see examples of this under the headline “projects”.
ICE also promotes certain artists and other professionals in the cultural sector who we believe are worth highlighting. You can see more about who they are under the headline “ICE presents”. More creators to come soon! In some cases ICE also act agent.
ICE Consulting is a company well separated from the activities with the association. ICE Consulting offers consulting services (communication, marketing and logistics) in the cultural sector mainly between Sweden and France; please read more under the headline ICE consulting.
Who is behind?

ICE was founded by Johanna Suo (photo to the left). In 2005 she came to Paris to work on a project she initiated, a cultural exchange between four artists; France Vs Suède. This was in collaboration with the Swedish Institute in Paris.
Before this she was living in Stockholm, working as an actress and later also as artistic director for the Swedish theatre company Teater Overground, in Stockholm. Teater Overground worked on a long-term project, PRO.N.S.T about new, contemporary Swedish texts and writing. “Listen to the society and create from what you hear.” Workshops were organized, texts produced and then adapted for the stage.
PRONST generated four plays:
“Hej alla djävlar” ; about the fantasy world of 10-year-olds.
“Som en taggboll, typ”; about the reality of 15-year-olds.
“Strålande Tid” ; about people touched directly or indirectly by cancer.
“Det vackra har en hemlig baksida”; about the reality of female police officers’ work.
Johanna was also a key person in the creation of the theatre: “Scenen Pipersgatan 4“in Stockholm.
The idea with ICE was born after some time passed in France; Sweden and France are two countries geographically so close but culturally rather separated. So she thought there were many interesting things to be done also on a European level, and this, of course, through art and culture.
Since the autumn 2010 Johanna splits her time between Paris and London.
